কবি জসীমউদ্দীন ১৯০৩ সালের ১ জানুয়ারি ফরিদপুর জেলার তাম্বুলখানা গ্রামে, মাতুলালয়ে জন্মগ্রহণ করেন। তাঁর পিতৃনিবাস ফরিদপুরের গোবিন্দপুর গ্রামে। ১৯৩১ সালে তিনি কলকাতা বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় থেকে বাংলা ভাষা ও সাহিত্যে এম এ পাস করেন।
তাঁর কর্মজীবনের শুরুতে তিনি পাঁচ বছর ঢাকা বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ে বাংলা বিভাগে অধ্যাপনা করেন। পরে তিনি সরকারের তথ্য ও প্রচার বিভাগে উচ্চপদে যোগ দেন। ছাত্রজীবনেই তিনি কবিতা লিখতে শুরু করেন। তিনি যখন বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের ছাত্র তখন তাঁর "কবর" কবিতাটির বিশষভাবে প্রশংসিত হয়। তাঁর কবিতায় আমরা পল্লির মানুষ ও প্রকৃতির সহজ-সুন্দর রূপটি দেখতে পাই। পল্লির মাটি ও মানুষের সঙ্গে তাঁর কবিহৃদয় যেন এক হয়ে মিশে আছে।
তাঁর উল্লেখযোগ্য গাথাকাব্যঃ "নকশীকাঁথার মাঠ", "সোজন বাদিয়ার ঘাট" ইত্যাদি।
কাব্যগ্রন্থঃ "রাখালী", "বালুচর", "মাটির কান্না", "মাটির কান্না" ইত্যাদি।
নাটকঃ "বেদের মেয়ে"; উপন্যাসঃ "বোবা কাহিনী"; গানের সংকলনঃ "রঙিলা নায়ের মাঝি" ইত্যাদি।
তাঁর শিশুতোষ গ্রন্থথের মধ্যে রয়েছেঃ "হাসু", "এক পয়সার বাঁশী", "ডালিমকুমার" ইত্যাদি।
বিশ্বভারতী বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় থেকে তিনি সম্মানসূচক ডি.লিট. ডিগ্রি এবং বাংলাদেশ সরকারের একুশে পদক পেয়েছেন। ১৯৭৬ সালের ১৩ মার্চ তিনি ঢাকায় মৃত্যুবরণ করেন।

Author Introduction 'Jasimuddin'
Poet Jasimuddin was born on 1 January 1903 in the village of Tambulkhana in Faridpur district, at his maternal uncle's house. His ancestral home is in Gobindpur village of Faridpur. In 1931 he passed MA in Bengali Language and Literature from Calcutta University.
At the beginning of his career he taught Bangla at Dhaka University for five years. He later joined the government's Information and Publicity Department. He started writing poetry in his student life. His "Kabar" poem was particularly acclaimed when he was a university student. In his poems we see the simple-beautiful form of rural people and nature. His poetic heart seems to be united with the soil and people of the countryside.
His notable ballads are "Nakshikanthar Maath", "Sojan Badiyar Ghat" etc.
Poems: "Rakhali", "Baluchar", "Matir Kanna" etc.
Drama: "Beder Meye"; Novel: "Boba Kahini"; Collection of songs: "Rangila Nayer Majhi" etc.
His children's books include "Hasu", "Ek Paisar Bashi", "Dalim Kumar" etc.
He received his honorary D.Litt. From Biswa-Bharati University. Degree and received the Ekushey Padak of the Government of Bangladesh. He died on 13 March 1976 in Dhaka.
